Anyway went into post, configured the bios and started to install xp pro. The power LED came on, and then went off after about 5 seconds, and stayed off. While pressing DEL, the speakers made a sound: Asstek try and get a loan of an earlier chip to see if I can boot and upgrade the bios.

Not sure that it applies here. If your cpu dint work you would here the same beeps codes as if it was removed are something along the line.
I added the DVD drive, card reader, and case light in succession and each time the beeps sounded off.
